Description: Warden Mallon and Keeper Jeremiah Murphy were shot during a prison break at the Tombs Prison facility. Keeper Murphy was fatally shot in the head when he refused to give the keys to the inmates. Warden Mallon was shot as he ran to the prison yard. Warden Mallon was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and died of his injuries. Two other officers were also shot but survived. The three inmates committed suicide when they were cornered in the prison yard. One of those inmates was implicated in the death of NYC Patrolman Frank Murphy (4-E: 7).
