Description: Deputy Sheriff Maness died of an injury sustained on October 16, 2014 while responding to a domestic disturbance call. As Deputy Sheriff Maness and two other deputies approached the front door of the residence, the suspect opened fire through the door with an AR-15 assault rifle. The suspect then opened the door and continued to fire on the deputies. The deputies were transported to the hospital and survived their wounds. The suspect was convicted and sentenced to 135 years in prison. Deputy Maness was in long-term physical therapy when he died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism on September 14, 2015.
