Description: Officer Melchionda was killed in a single-car automobile accident while pursuing a suspicious car. Officer Melchionda and fellow detectives were attempting to pull over a stolen car when another motorist suddenly turned left directly in front of Officer Melchionda. Officer Melchionda swerved to avoid an accident, struck a tree and was killed instantly.
