Description: Deputy Sheriff Matuskovic was fatally shot as he and fellow deputies responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex. As the deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect, he opened fire through the door with an AK-47, striking Deputy Matuskovic. Although Deputy Matuskovic was wearing protective armor, the bullet pierced the vest and Deputy Matuskovic died at the scene. Two other deputies were wounded but survived. The suspect was killed in an exchange of gunfire with the deputies.
