Description: Deputy Sheriff Mautz was shot by bandits, while off-duty, while seated in his vehicle with another passenger. Deputy Mautz refused to raise his hands and instead reached for his gun. Deputy Mautz was transported to the hospital with a bullet wound to the chest and died the next day. The two bandits fled the scene and were not apprehended.
