Description: MA2 Class Mayo was shot and killed aboard the USS Mahan by a civilian who had boarded the ship while it was docked at Naval Station Norfolk's Pier 1 in Virginia. The suspect confronted an officer on the quarterdeck of the ship where he was able to gain control of the officer's weapon and fatally shot responding Officer Mayo, who had come to assist the officer. The suspect was shot and killed by other responding security forces officers.
