Description: Sergeant McCrystal, of the Phillips State Prison, was killed in a vehicle crash while en route to the hospital to supervise an inmate admitted for treatment. Sergeant McCrystal was on duty at the facility when he was instructed to travel to the hospital to assist with the supervision of an inmate. Sergeant McCrystal's vehicle was sideswiped on the driver's side and he lost control of the vehicle, overturned and struck the median wall. The other driver was charged with vehicular homicide and hit and run.
