Description: Keeper McGovern was fatally beaten with a sawed-off cell bar by two prisoners who were attempting to escape from the Seventh District Prison in Manhattan. One of the escapees fell to his death while climbing down the side of the building using a bed sheet. The second escapee was convicted of the murder of Keeper McGovern and executed via the electric chair.
