Description: Superintendent McMinn was beaten by three inmates who were attempting to escape from the chain gang. Superintendent McMinn was supervising a group of convicts who were repairing the county road when three of the inmates attacked and beat him with a mattock. Two other convicts rushed to his aid and the inmates fled. Superintendent McMinn died several hours later. Two of the inmates were captured.
