Description: On July 27, 1867, Police Officer McMullen was attacked and beaten as he attempted to quell a commotion in a saloon. Officer McMullen was struck over the head with a bottle and sustained a fractured skull. He was further assaulted as he lay on the ground. Officer McMullen was confined to his bed for six weeks and suffered paralysis in his limbs and impaired speech. Officer McMullen succumbed to his injuries due to paralysis and convulsions on December 18, 1869.
