Description: Special Deputy Marshal McIntosh was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a group of desperados in Muskogee, Indiana Territory (Oklahoma). Marshal McIntosh was the leader of a group of Cherokee Indians working with the U.S. Marshals to rid the Cherokee Nation of desperados. The posse approached the hideout of the desperados responsible for U.S. Marshal John Phillips' death and were met with a barrage of gunfire. Marshal McIntosh was shot and killed in the encounter.
