Description: Special Officer Mumford was ambushed and shot after he escorted a woman to her residence. The woman had been receiving threats from an ex-boyfriend and asked Officer Mumford to escort her home after her shift ended at a restaurant. The woman invited Officer Mumford inside for coffee which he accepted. Officer Mumford was fatally shot through a rear window as he sat at the dining table. The woman was also shot but survived her injuries. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
