Description: Officer Maher was shot and killed when he attempted to stop a fight between two brothers. Officer Maher was responding to another call across the street when he saw the fight in the alley. As Officer Maher attempted to end the fight, one of the men gained control of Officer Maher's weapon and shot him in the abdomen with his own gun. Officer Maher was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
