Description: Deputy Mickel was off duty and eating at a local restaurant, when a patron refused to pay for his meal and began arguing with the manager. The manager, aware that Paul Mickel was a deputy, asked him for his assistance in removing the suspect. While waiting for back up, a struggle ensued and the suspect was able to gain possession of Deputy Mickel's service weapon. Deputy Mickel was shot to death with his own gun.
