Description: On the Morning of September 3, 2001, District Wildlife Manager Mason was on duty assisting with a haying project at the Gunnison State Wildlife Refuge Center. The Coroner estimated the tragic accident occurred approximately 11:34 a.m. Officer Mason was crushed by a 1,000 lb. rolled bale of hay. He died of massive head injuries.
