Description: Attempting other arrest (excludes burglary, robbery and drug-related arrests). Sheriff May and a posse of officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a suspect for illegally caring a pistol. As the posse of officers approached the outdoor hideout of the suspect, Sheriff May ordered the suspect to come outside and lay down his weapon. The suspect refused and shot Sheriff May in the abdomen killing him instantly.
