Description: Officers Morton and Frederick Porter were killed in an airplane crash in the Baldwin Hills area. The officers were on their way to check on the condition of a work crew in the aftermath of an earthquake that had occurred the day before. As the pilot attempted to land the aircraft, it failed to clear a small gully and crashed into a hillside. Both officers and the pilot were killed.
