Description: Officer McMillin was shot when he apprehended three hobos who were attempting to ride on top of a passenger train. When Officer McMillin ordered the hobos from the Barstow, California railyard, one of the men drew a weapon and shot Officer McMillin twice. Officer McMillin died from his wounds shortly afterwards. The three hobos fled but were captured and charged with murder.
