Description: Sergeant Mossbrucker responded to a call of a shooting rampage at Albertson's supermarket. The suspect had killed his estranged wife and a co-worker and had injured a third person. The suspect was hiding when Sergeant Mossbrucker arrived. While still sitting in his patrol car, Sergeant Mossbrucker was shot and killed by the suspect. Although Sergeant Mossbrucker was wearing his protective vest, the bullet entered the side panel. The suspect surrendered to deputies and was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the three shooting deaths. However, he took his own life before he was formally sentenced.
