Description: On July 14, 1994, Supervisory Border Patrol Agent McLaughlin was performing checkpoint duties in Temecula, California when she was stuck by a syringe hidden in a vehicle. In 1998, Agent McLaughlin tested positive for hepatitis C. Agent McLaughlin medically retired from the department in 2002. Agent McLaughlin died of liver failure on September 14, 2009.
