Description: Officer Melson died of a heart attack after a motor vehicle pursuit. Officer Melson was working traffic detail on Route 26 when he caught a speeding motorist on radar. Officer Melson initiated pursuit under heavy traffic conditions and was able to stop the car just outside of the town limits. As Officer Melson approached the vehicle, he collapsed and died at the scene of a fatal heart attack.
