Description: Deputies McClure and John P. Grove were shot and killed by two inmates that they were transporting to the Pendleton Penitentiary from Lafayette, Indiana. It is not known exactly when the deputies were shot since their bodies were found in a field eight days after their departure from Lafayette, Indiana. The inmates were recaptured.
