Description: Officer Morgan was shot and killed outside of the Roane County Courthouse while escorting two inmates from the Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex. A nurse, who was also employed at the prison, had set up an ambush in the courthouse parking lot to free one of the inmates. Officer Morgan was shot three times as he attempted to stop the prison escape. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
