Description: Officer McCarthy was fatally injured when a pick-up truck struck him and his horse as they were crossing the street after the completion of traffic detail at the Spectrum Arena. Officer McCarthy was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officer McCarthy's horse, Skipper, was also killed.
