Description: Patrolman McCarthy was killed in an automobile crash while pursuing a suspect. He and a fellow officer responded to assist in the pursuit of a suspect evading police. The suspect ran a stop sign and crashed into the passenger side of the officer's patrol car. Patrolman McCarthy was the passenger in the vehicle. Both officers were transported to a hospital, where Patrolman McCarthy died. The second officer injured in the crash survived. The suspect was apprehended.
