Description: Deputy Maroon was shot and killed while trying to foil an escape from the Nye County Jail. A prisoner told Deputy Maroon he was leaving the jail. When Deputy Maroon attempted to stop him, the suspect beat him and took his gun and keys. Deputy Maroon chased the suspect outside where he found the man attempting to steal a patrol car. As Deputy Maroon approached the suspect, the man shot him once in the abdomen with his own gun, killing him instantly. The suspect was apprehended
