Description: Detective McIntyre was shot while on patrol at the Southern Railway yards in Alexandria, Virginia when he came upon three men stealing coal from a freight car. Two of the men fled but the third man shot Detective McIntyre three times. Detective McIntyre returned fire and wounded his assailant. Detective McIntyre died of his injuries the next day.
