Description: Officer Nickerson, of the Clinton Correctional Facility, was stabbed in the heart by an inmate with a pocket knife. Despite his mortal wound, Officer Nickerson helped the other guards subdue the inmate before he lapsed into unconsciousness. Two guards were wounded coming to Officer Nickerson's aid but survived the attack.
