Description: Trooper Nugent died of a fractured skull caused when he was thrown from his motorcycle on the Forestville Sheridan Road near Sheridan in Chautauqua County. While on patrol, a large collie dog ran from a farm house directly into the front wheel of his motorcycle. Trooper Nugent was taken to the hospital but succumbed without regaining consciousness.
