Description: Officer Newby was shot as he went to investigate the sound of shots being fired. As Officer Newby entered the alley, he was shot in the chest by a man who was hiding in the shadows. Officer Newby returned fire and killed his assailant. Officer Newby was rushed to the hospital where he remained until his death five days later.
