Description: Sheriff Nelson was shot when he responded to a domestic disturbance call. Sheriff Nelson was ambushed and shot when he arrived at the residence to arrest a suspect who had fatally shot his ex-wife and two month old granddaughter. Sheriff Nelson was shot from behind and died at the scene. The suspect then shot and killed his daughter who had summoned Sheriff Nelson. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death via the electric chair.
