Description: Officer New was pursuing a traffic violator when a vehicle collided with his motorcycle. The force of the crash was so great that the rear axle of the car was torn away. Officer New was taken to Emanuel Hospital then transferred to St. Joseph's hospital for extensive surgery. Officer New died of his injuries eight weeks later.
