Description: On July 21, 1894, Patrol Officer Neagles, Officer Arthur Wells and Officer Thomas Cryan were injured in an explosion at the electric plant. The officers had responded to a call regarding a possible fire at the facility and were conducting a search of the premises when the explosion occurred. Police Officers Wells and Cryan survived their injuries. Officer Neagles sustained severe burns and was hospitalized until his death due to septicemia a month later on August 20, 1894.
