Description: Town Marshal Nicholson was ambushed and shot in retaliation by a suspect he had arrested earlier that day who had escaped. Town Marshal Nicholson arrested a suspect for fighting and was escorting him to jail when the suspect escaped. The suspect went home, retrieved his Winchester rifle and went in search of the Marshal. Marshal Nicholson was fatally shot by the suspect later that day. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
