Description: Officer Newlin succumbed to injuries he received four days prior while escorting a funeral procession. Officer Newlin was working an authorized funeral detail in full uniform when he attempted to catch up to the funeral procession. Officer Newlin ran into the back of a car that had stopped suddenly in the middle of the road. Officer Newlin was transported to a local hospital where he lapsed into a coma and died four days later.
