Description: Deputy Sheriff Nicks was shot when he accompanied his father, Town Marshal Robert Nicks, to serve a warrant on a suspect. As Marshal Nicks attempted to take the suspect into custody, the suspect pulled a handgun. Deputy Nicks jumped in front of his father as the suspect fired a single round, killing Deputy Nicks. The suspect was not apprehended.
