Description: Deputy O'Bannon was escorting a prisoner from court to the county jail. Deputy O'Bannon accompanied the prisoner to find a man who was willing to sign a bond for the prisoner. When they found the man, he drew a gun and fatally shot Sheriff O'Bannon at point-blank range. Sheriff O'Bannon's assailant was found guilty in a court of law and sentenced to life in prison.
