Description: Deputy Owens was on duty at a school during an election poll when two juveniles began fighting. Deputy Owens stopped the fight and was escorting one of the boys off the premises when the father of the boy came from behind and struck Deputy Owens over the head with an iron rod. Deputy Owens fell to the ground, drew his pistol and shot his assailant. Another man grabbed Deputy Owens' weapon and fatally shot him with his own gun.
