Description: Deputy Ortiz was shot and killed while interviewing a woman outside a local apartment building. A gunman suddenly burst out of the residence and shot Deputy Ortiz fatally in the head. The suspect was a wanted gang member and had a rap sheet 15 pages long. Deputy Ortiz was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
