Description: City Marshal Offut was shot as he accompanied a prisoner to secure a bondsman. The prisoner, who had just been arrested by Marshal Offut for public intoxication, drew a revolver and shot Marshal Offut three times in the back. Marshal Offut died at the scene. The prisoner was arrested for murder.
