Description: Patrolman O'Brien was shot with his own gun as he attempted to arrest a hobo. Patrolman O'Brien caught two hobos riding the freight train as it pulled into the railyard in Mason City, Iowa and ordered them off the train. As Patrolman O'Brien attempted to search one of the suspects, the suspect fled. Patrolman O'Brien caught the suspect and a struggled ensued. The suspect gained control of Patrolman O'Brien service weapon and fired several times. Patrolman O'Brien died shortly after.
