Description: Constable O'Brien was shot in an exchange of gunfire when he came upon a burglary in progress in his barn. Three armed suspects were attempting to steal chickens from the coop. Constable O'Brien called out to his father for assistance and they engaged in a gun battle with the suspects. Constable O'Brien was shot in the chest and died at the scene. His father was also wounded but survived. The suspects were not apprehended.
