Description: On January 24, 1974, Lieutenant O'Connor was seated in his patrol car when an oncoming vehicle skidded out of control and struck the front of the car. Lieutenant O'Connor was thrown forward and struck his head, then fell out of the car onto the pavement. Lieutenant O'Connor returned to work one week later but complained of chronic pain in the shoulder and abdomen. Lieutenant O'Connor went to a physician a month later on February 27th and underwent surgery the following day. Lieutenant O'Connor died two weeks later on March 14th due to complications stemming from his injuries sustained in the automobile crash.
