Description: Deputy Sheriff Olivero was fatally shot in the head as he walked to work. The suspects were alleged to be members of the Black Hand but were never apprehended. Deputy Olivero had worked closely with federal immigration authorities for several years and numerous mafia members were deported as a result. Over the course of his career, Deputy Olivero had received threatening letters from the Black Hand and had been the target of previous assassination attempts.
