Description: On March 17, 2002, Police Officer Owens was injured in an automobile crash as he responded to a disturbance call with emergency equipment activated. An intoxicated driver suddenly turned into the path of his patrol car and caused a collision. Officer Owens sustained injuries to his neck and back which required surgery. Officer Owens medically retired from the department. Officer Owens died on February 17, 2008 due to complications from the original injury.
