Description: Patrolman O'Malley was shot by one of four armed suspects who were robbing a tavern. Although wounded, Patrolman O'Malley returned fire, killing one of the robbers. Patrolman O'Malley died of his injuries nine days later. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in the electric chair. Two other suspects were convicted of murder and each received a sentence of 199 years in prison.
