Description: Deputy Owens was killed in a single-car accident while on patrol near Angier and Rogers Road in Wake County. A passing motorist found the wrecked patrol car up against a tree and called the sheriff's office. Deputy Owens was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are reviewing several sets of deer footprints around the crime scene as a contributing factor.
