Description: On June 9, 2010, Motor Officer Ortiz was struck by a motorist while issuing a traffic citation. Officer Ortiz pulled over an SUV on his motorcycle and was issuing a citation when another motorist driving on the shoulder of the highway struck him and the SUV. Officer Ortiz was pinned in the wreck and had to be extricated by the rescue crew. Officer Ortiz was transported to the hospital where he remained until his death two weeks later on June 22, 2010.
