Description: On November 11, 2013, Petty Officer BM3 Obendorf was severely injured while rescuing crew members from a disabled fishing vessel. Officer Obendorf was on a maritime law enforcement patrol in the Bering Sea when he responded to assist the fishing vessel. During the rescue, Officer Obendorf sustained severe head trauma that required continuous hospitalization until his death on December 18, 2013.
