Description: Officer Peterson was killed and Deputy Guy Carlson wounded as they attempted to arrest a suspect wanted for bootlegging. The lawmen approached the location where the suspect was hiding and called out to him. The suspect responded with gunfire. Officer Peterson was struck and died at the scene. Keith County Sheriff George Heiser died several weeks later while attempting to arrest the same suspect.
